Confession Time
Vernon Howard broke things down into Situation and Solution. I will apply that into the confession that I am about to make.
Situation: America is sliding into autocracy, thanks to D. J. T.
Solution: Remember that everything is destined.
I confess that even though I read the above Situation and Solution, I am emotionally unable to stop getting upset when I see our country fall into dangerous hands.
I get more upset about this than I do about anything else in recent memory.
Situation: Half of America makes up the support for Republican autocracy.
Solution: Remember that everything is destined.
Situation: I do not want to remember that everything is destined because the outcome will be bad.
Solution: I have to want to remember!
So you get a sense of how you can monitor what is happening in your inner world. Just apply the Situation and Solution approach as taught by Vernon Howard.
But Christ said the same things in different words, as do all enlightened teachers. There are no exceptions to this process of Situation and Solution.
Situation: I take things too heavily.
Solution: Breathe!

I also have been more upset about this eminent lost of our democracy than anything else in recent memory. It has been atrocious and alarming to the extreme. Our best teachers (Christ, other true guides and Vernon Howard) have told us “it is all destined.” Very humbly, I confess that I did not think/relate that message with what horror I’ve been observing. I only wanted it to stop – it had to stop – what could we do to make it stop?! The incomprehensible violence and hatred has, at least, made me KNOW that “being in this world” is the wrong and horrible option for us. We cannot do anything about anything; and our responsibility is to know that. We can be of the wonderful kingdom by one of your most mentioned practices — sitting quietly, breathing slowly and observantly and remembering God within. It can be half a second, half an hour or possibly longer. It helps us remember and experience God’s peace and love.
This message was very much needed by me. Seek ye first the kingdom of God. Thank you very much, Vicki.
Thanks, Ruth, for your honesty. There is no free will because the soul is in charge of its own destiny, not the personality that objects to so many things. I have to continually reset my mood these days because of our political situation. Things will get worse, not better. Somehow it is our job to rise above the plane of opposites and bathe ourselves in silence. Human love does not work; only divine love does. Most people will deny it, but it is nonetheless true.
D.J.T. and his acolytes, yes I agree. I would also include A.O.C. and her acolytes or cronies. On that we maybe don’t agree, However, thanks for the “situation and solution formula. It is an interesting way of looking at things. Is the key finding the right solution for any given situation? Lots to think about.
Have a good Sunday. Enjoy.
Situation and Solution is an ideal way to work ourselves out of a negative state. Human beings love negativity because it keeps them asleep and “food for the Moon,” as Gurdjieff said long ago.
We didn’t start the fire
It was always burning, since the world’s been turning
We didn’t start the fire
No, we didn’t light it, but we tried to fight it~Billy Joel
Situation.
And let’s also throw a little Covid on the fire!! If I let myself go there…I get panicky. The political collapse of our democracy and the pure hatred that is engulfing our nation is infuriating and frightening and living in an uncertain covid world is unsettling. This is not a recipe for a secure life.
Solution.
You and Ruth hit it right. Destiny is all there is and rising above is exactly what is needed. To me, it feels like being selfish. It’s not that I don’t care, no far from it. It’s that I am powerless to alter anything. There is nothing I can do, but be a witness. Prepare for the worst, but pray for the best. Let it roll out and unfold as it will. Seek God.
Que sera, Sera. Makes me think of Doris Day. What could ever be wrong in Doris’s life!
