Behind the Veil (An old poem reprised)

Behind the Veil

I heard the words
a final time.
I don’t remember
what they were
or how I reacted.
Numb and buzzing
in every cell
I kept walking
towards what
would save me.

I didn’t know
how long it
would take
to get there
but I kept walking
one sentence
at a time
until the book
was written.

Life
With
A
Hole
In
It.

That severity
became
softened
only
with
time.

Now eternity
has slipped out
of time’s
cold
grasp.
And I
am
home.

  1. Hi Vicki, I was reading a new book by English Psychologist, Steve Taylor. It is titled, The Clear Light. I am including a few lines from a poem entitled “Coming Down From the Mountains. These words made me think of you:

    Stillness can only endure
when it has been built up
    in the midst of turbulence.
    Enlightenment can only endure
when it has grown deep and strong
    in the midst of darkness.

    Cheers, Dennis
