Living the Life of a “Forced Renunciate”
Spiritual renunciates are those that give up things for God. As we learn to protect ourselves against Covid-19, I see some parallels with them. I am sitting here typing with a cup of hot coffee and a heating pad on my neck. The house is quiet and I am okay with that.
If there was no social isolation, I would still be doing the same thing. My house is always quiet. As far as the virus is concerned, I hope we never meet!
As I take walks, I stop and chat with neighbors and everyone is friendlier than ever. That is because we are in the same ashram; it is called Social Isolation. We are practicing good will by doing this. As I say, “Love, your neighbor IS yourself.” So we do what we can to further the cause of global protection. If Mother Earth could wear a mask, I am sure she would.
At this point, politicians are no better than anyone else; actually they are worse. They are spinning so many plates in the air that someone is gonna get hurt.
My family consists of my son and I. He does the shopping and we split the cooking. Last night he served salad, potatoes, broccoli and biscuits. Tonight is my turn.
We have been cleaning our own house since the virus took firm root in America. The house is big, but we use a small portion of it. These two ladies that clean our house have been working for us since the death of my husband. They are friends but we may not use them again. Life is changing for the better because of the virus. We are seeing that simple is better than complex.
The world is doing less mingling and as a result the planet is breathing more easily. Her skies are bluer and the air is less toxic.
So, fellow renunciates, I bid you good day. In spite of rising deaths and rising seas, we are One. In spite of grief and loss, we aspire together to find health for everyone. And we are truly sharing on a higher level than ever before. Silence gives nature a chance to speak. And we look at it with gratitude as we take our walks. Sometimes Mother Nature winks and I remember that truth is beauty and beauty is truth. As Vernon Howard said, “Whether you know it or not, all is well.” And I will add, “Consciousness knows no division, so God bless us every One.” Okay, so I am paraphrasing. Whaddaya gonna do, edit me?
Vicki Woodyard
hi, vicki, my name is rick and i have been reading your blog and books for around 15 years. this is my first comment, due to having extra time, i recently quit my job of 17 years. i was employed in the moving and storage industry and due to a number of factors, one of which is my age, 58 in november, i decided it was time for a change. i have been on the path for most of my life and have pretty much read all of the books and studied what needed to be studied, particularly, and including myself. all of this is by way of an introduction so that you would have some idea of the person that is leaving these comments. i want you to know that i agree with you on most of your posts and think that you are doing a tremendous service to the seekers after truth community. i think you are the real deal, i can tell from my own inner gnosis where you are coming from and it isn’t self aggrandizement. i totally agree with you about trump, what a farce! the amount of people that are sticking with him, after everything that he has done and revealed himself to be, proves how right gurdjieff and vernon howard were about the low state of humanity and the terrestrial neighborhood in which we reside. you are right about facebook. i just, recently, got on it. i figured that i needed to create some kind of an on line presence in order to find a new job. it was as though i opened pandora’s box. all the people and old friends from my past started wanting to “friend” me. i looked at their pages and posts and thought, “yeek god” we don’t see the world the same way. i don’t want to spend all my time on line or on my cell phone gossiping, i need to do my meditation and lectio- divine reading and contemplation. i can understand them, but, they cannot understand me i.e…law of levels. once again i just want to say thank you for all of your wonderful posts. p.s. rick is the name i go by, but, my email is based off of my first name.
Thanks for reading me, Rick. The good news is that there is a way out. The bad news is that WE aren’t it! It’s all so paradoxical and brilliantly planned to keep us off base.
Right now I am writing quickly in order to get the truth out before my ego interferes (and it always does.)
So good to meet another friend on the path through Vicki’s work.
Best wishes on the next leg of your journey
Chris
