Bits and Pieces

I have nothing to promise you. Never have, never will. There are only God’s promises anyway. There is change in the air, what with the corona virus and the flooding that is going on so many places. We have been told that it might be good to stock up on food supplies, so I have done a bit of that. Just came in with my haul and Rob is putting them away.

I have some fake bacon I love; it’s made by Morningstar Farms. I busted a plate trying to cook it in the microwave. I tried using the toaster oven and that didn’t work. I was thrilled when I saw a microwave bacon cooker at the grocery. It is perfect! So I just had an open-faced egg sandwich with two strips of the delicious bacon.

Tomorrow Rob and I are having dinner with John Fox of The Institute for Poetic Medicine. He will be leading a session on poetry and we will have a chance to write some of our own. I am resting up for that today and look forward to being with John. He has a presence that invites you to open up to your deeper nature. It feels safe and exciting at the same time. So we sit and write poems about anything we want, although John will suggest topics if we need that. After the group is finished, anyone can stand and read their poem. John always asks us to “Read it again, please.” The second time it may sound different to our ears.

I first heard John do this when Bob was undergoing treatment and we were going to The Wellness Community. Bob never went but after he died, I started going. John is only in town once a year, so it is a real treat to have him with us. I don’t often get the kind of soul food that John serves us with his beautiful instinct for guiding a group.

That’s it for today. More later….
