I didn’t sleep a wink last night, so I got up before daybreak. I put a piece of stollen in the toaster oven and drank a cup of sage tea with it. I have gained five pounds that I will have trouble getting rid of since I can’t exercise much. I have kept my weight under control all of my life, so I am still shocked at the weight gain, although it is mainly a side effect of medication.
Last night Rob and I drove around our greater neighborhood looking at Christmas lights. By accident we came upon a magical scene in one yard. I will post some pictures he took there. The weather is still shockingly warm here, so we lingered there. Then we went to a coffee shop and got lattes that were delicious. My flavor was churro, recommended by the barista.
I have nothing to express but gratitude these days. Grief has receded into the background, leaving a spaciousness that is much appreciated. This time in my life was forecast by my friend, the late John Logan, or Lotus Aware, as he called himself on chat groups.
When you have worked on yourself enough, you quit being surprised by the evil in this world. You take it as a given and try not to let it influence you. Vernon Howard did not hesitate to use the word evil; neither did Jesus. The Christ Consciousness negates worldly influences, leaving you to experience the true Silent Night.
I have no idea what this year will bring, but I know I will keep working on myself. As Ram Dass said, this is the greatest gift we can give each other.
Namaste,
Vicki

Happy New Year to you, too!
