Enlightenment has not crossed my mind lately….

I know there is supposedly such a thing as enlightenment, but it has not crossed my mind lately. I ordered a new dishwasher from Home Depot a few weeks ago and it came last week. The delivery man looked under my sink and said succinctly (“suck-sinkly” if you ask me), that they couldn’t install it because I didn’t have the right hook-up and I thought to say “Tell me about it,” but they would have missed my dry tone.

They took it back and Rob and I mourned about five minutes because the new shiny appliance was not there. Now we had to deal with the broken door on the old one until we could get a plumber out. Of course, Thanksgiving intervened.

Fast forward to yesterday. The plumber came and talked me into getting a new disposal. He was right; my old one would feel totally insecure with a new dishwasher we would favor.

While he was working, he told me about his beloved Maytag dishwasher. Well, I had ordered an LG with Rob’s help. Actually he did all of the leg work. By the time the plumber waxed eloquent about his love, I had gotten all moony- eyed over getting a Maytag just like he had.

I called our man at Home Depot and emailed him twice. No answer. But a short while ago, I called again and a friendly woman named Jennifer listened to my tale of woe. “John is on vacation,” she said. So I pleaded with her to help me cancel the LG and order the Maytag.

Rob is not at home. When I tell him I switched to Maytag he will just look at me. And if it comes December 12 (Oh, frabjous day), he will do more than just look at me if it doesn’t fit. He is like his father, slow to come to important decisions like anything technical. I, however, am deeply impulsive. And so I will keep you informed.

Meanwhile, we have to hand wash our dishes or use paper plates. Oh, the agony.

  1. Hi Vicki!
Reads much like experiences in my life. You appear to have a good attitude towards the whole ordeal….
I wondered why the Home Depot delivery man didn’t just leave the LG dishwasher at your location, and the plumber could do his thing and eventually install it? Oh well, then you wouldn’t have gotten a Maytag…. Did you ever watch the Maytag commercials? You may really get a kick out of them.
Oh, and thank you for using the expression “frabjous.” I had to look it up, thinking at first it must be a made up word. It wasn’t ! (as you already know.) Thank you for sharing Dear Vicki!
