Last night I had a break-through dream, although I cannot remember many of the details or even the sequence of events. I will try and get it down in pixels.
I remember being in a department store, only it had been temporarily converted into an arts and crafts venue. I walked around looking at things, but not buying. At some point I realized that I had left my purse and a wrap of some kind. I looked and looked until I realized that someone had stolen them. I had lost my phone and wallet and my I.D. in the form of my driver’s license.
As it grew later, I knew I had to find a ride home. I approached two women that knew a mutual friend and asked if I could get a ride with them and they said I could. The group grew larger as we made our way out of the store. Then the dream got tricky. No one could find how to leave that floor, which was one floor above the one that we were on. I said that I knew where the exit door was, but there was some shape shifting going on. I realized that we had to think positive if we were to find the exit. But none of us could. Just as I thought we had made progress in finding the door, the store would shape shift again. I made a joke about our group being “the stupid one,” as some people had found their way out.
I talked to a woman that had had a display in the art exhibit. She painted rabbits and I didn’t think she was especially good, but we talked and I found myself picking up a rabbit that looked like a rock. I held it in my hand and it felt flat and quite unremarkable. But when I turned it over, it had beautiful butterfly wings and I felt elated. I said to the women in the group, “Look at this, look at this. All you have to do is turn it over!” And I found myself talking in my sleep and waking myself up saying, “Turn it over, turn it over.”
Most of the dream was about me losing things. I lost my purse and was driving a rental car I couldn’t find in the parking lot—apparently that was why I needed to ask these people for a ride home.
At the very end, after we had gotten out of the department store, we saw huge rabbit statues in the landscape. I got all excited when I looked at them rising into the sky. I realized that rabbits must have been worshiped because I saw rabbits that were obviously saying that former inhabitants had erected them.
The takeaway from this dream was simple: Turn it over. Turn it over. I don’t know why the rabbit symbol was used repeatedly. I used to collect them many years ago and I never knew why, except you get one and say you like it and then that is all that people give you. Any ideas why the message of “Turn it over” came in the shape of a rabbit?

It’s too much fun just pondering the imagery to try to explain it!
But — you were lost and all things identifying you as “you” were taken away. You nevertheless always seem to find allies to help you.
We have lots of rabbits in our backyard from now till the fall. Not sure what the symbol of a rabbit means to you — they’re awkward looking, ubiquitous, kind of unremarkable in their brown coloring. But you turn one over and there are wings; and later on, the really totemic rabbits are floating into the air. So these unremarkable creatures are actually pretty remarkable.
Maybe you’re pretty remarkable. Turn that idea over and see.
Mike, you are my new dream interpreter! You turned it into magic, you did. It was a dream loaded with symbolism. A common dream theme
of mine is being “lost in life,” as one interpreter put this kind of dream. I get lost, need to find a phone but either no one will give
me theirs or the phone won’t work. So this dream introduced the idea that a landscape such as a department store can shape shift. I was
trying to help everyone but the details of how are lost to me. When I turned the rock over and saw the wings, to me it meant “Let go and let god.”
Amen.
“But — you were lost and all things identifying you as ‘you’ were taken away. You nevertheless always seem to find allies to help you.” Beautiful stuff. Just gorgeous.
I also love your interpretation of “let go and let God” very much. This was all a blessing.
I wonder what “turn it over” means to you. How do you translate it in terms of the dream meaning. What are you turning over? What happens if you do? 🐇
What “turn it over” to me meant turning my life over to God instead of the mind trying to figure everything out.Turning over the rock to find
wings was a lovely surprise. A rabbit with wings that is.
