What It Is Really About

“What we think it is about keeps changing. What it is really about never does.”
~Vicki Woodyard

I just got back from the mall. The sun is out and I wanted to get out of the house. I didn’t know where I wanted to go, so I went to the mall. Vernon Howard called it “The malicious mall.” Leonard Cohen advised us to steer past it.

But I was antsy and so I went anyway.

I decided I would get a donut, but the stall hadn’t opened yet.

So I walked down to the candle store and candles were 75% off. So I bought two.

Now the donut stall had opened. I got 2 donuts boxed to take home and a small cup of coffee.

I took off my coat; it was hot. Drank the coffee and it was good and also cheap.

Drove home.

Am writing this.

Life is not about donuts and the mall. I keep forgetting this.
