“I have no authority and no power.” This is the insight that came to me as I first entered the silence this morning. I have never had that thought before. Today it unfolded this meaning for me.
I have seeming power and seeming authority. Some of it pertains to this world. A lot of it originates in the ego, which struts and frets all the day long. Still and yet, it is ersatz power. It is power for which we pay dearly. God is not mocked.
So who has all authority and power? If you have to ask, you might as well quit reading.
The One.
The One that sits silent in our breasts and gives us life. The ego is born and dies, but the Infallible One is everlasting.
Not only that, the One that forgives us and tends us like a shepherd. That One. The One that cannot be fingerprinted, detained or questioned.
Silence is His modus operandi. He has tucked Himself into each human heart and given hints as to how to find Him.
It is up to us to do this. And we are quite clumsy as detectives, are we not?
Nevertheless, He is calling us and not on our smartphones.
I am smiling.
