I come to the well of the world again. I have made millions of trips, each time carrying a load of hope that the worldly water will deliver.
Oh, I know better. I understand the words of Jesus and how He is living water. Yet I know better than I can do. So I wearily slog along the path until I reach the well of the world.
The water always tastes the same. There is a drop of bitterness in it that can never go away. It is disguised within a sweet one. That is why you see so many putrid pilgrimages made to the false well.
The mind laps up worldly water eagerly. It also tries to keep others from drinking the well dry before it gets a chance.
I used to drink from this well more often than I do now. If I admit it, I know it is better to go thirsty than to drink from it. But the soul parches in the heat of the desert.
What to do?
You know the answer to this. Meditate on it.
Vernon Howard taught the situation/solution model.
The situation: Worldly water sickens us.
The solution: KNOW THIS.
