It’s a Wonder….

I wrote a note this morning and decided not to post it. It felt fatalistic and was not sure anyone would get it. So I filed it. And then I read a comment from A on my blog. She writes:

“I had a woman speak to me about the human mind and paradox, and how we think we have to choose: humanity or consciousness…the truth of heart or meaninglessness…real or unreal.

The Truth is vast enough to hold it all at once. The idea that we must choose is confusion. She spoke of how we cause ourselves unnecessary pain thinking we have to make such choices.

I felt so much better. I get to be human, too. I get to feel. In fact, it’s all about feeling.”

So now I feel I should publish the note I decided not to write. Here it is.

It’s a Wonder….

It is a wonder that anyone gets through the day, isn’t it? If we could only crumple them up like sheets of paper and hurl them back into the maw of wherever they came. Nevertheless we press on, not knowing but deeply caring about the mysterious force that keeps us going.

We live in a microscopic part of the cosmos and do not get its memos regularly. The paperwork happens in a place unknown to us.

The climate complicates things as well. The nightly news shows us visitations of floods, volcanic eruptions and raging fires. We are helpless against the forces of nature.

The human race, of which we are not so proudly a part, contributes to the violence in its own mechanical way. The murders, rapes and pillaging have been going on long before we took birth and will continue.

Where is love in all of this? (Pause for a moment before reading on.)

You must not know anything or you will try and change the plot of the story.

You must simply live each day as it comes, witnessing what is shown to you by the camera of your heart and mind.

A force is behind all of this mayhem, a force that wants to destroy you. It is within and not without.

A greater force is also inside of you that wants to heal you.

It is not necessary to understand it, grasp it or explain it.

It is enough that it is what matters more than anything else.

Some call it love. Some call it God. Some call it the Self.

Let the heathens rage, as the Bible says. It has ever been thus.

This is so true. For the life of me, I don’t understand it but I do feel the truth of it. I don’t see this note as fatalistic but realistic.

  3. I get it. I think and talk like that a lot. And yes, we don’t have to choose and a lot of people are very grateful to see that it’s okay to feel, know, be, speak exactly like this when it is what is arising.
