There is a key that unlocks the door to freedom but most of us forget it is in our own pocket! It is invisible, so maybe that is the reason. It is good to know that emotions are invisible things. I must say that the invisible things are the hardest to see. Giggle.
I am making light of a serious subject, which is always good to do. Yesterday I fell into a state of gloom about the huge amount of water damage to my house where the deck is attached. It seems hard to even find the right people to do it. This makes me feel gloomy. So here is what I have to do.
The Work is about seeing, about witnessing. That is where our freedom lies. So the key in my pocket must be remembered. Ah, I have it! Hallelujah.
The next step is to simply witness my huge amount of dismay. That is where my power lies. And power equals love. I must love myself enough to work on myself. And I am often lazy.
Witnessing my dismay, I feel the burden begin to feel lighter. That is a lawful experience. Now I have to stay with the witnessing as long as I can, because I will forget.
Now I have what the work calls “an aim.” I make an aim to witness my negative emotions. Soon I will forget, but that is okay. That is forgiven. The main thing is to have an aim.
You can have lots of aims going, because we are forgetful of our higher help. The witness is the highest help you can summon.
The witness is who you really are, and it has become a forgotten power. Time to remember it.

Very timely post, Vicki, and much needed!! You are so right. I was in the same state of mind yesterday about our house and all the many projects we can’t afford to do. It becomes overwhelming until we find that invisible key! Thank you! I needed to hear this today.
We are constantly taken over, highjacked, by our negativity. The only way out is to know it.
Thanx for this; I get snagged all the time. Thank God I can stop & witness it & relax into empty unknowingnessness…YET, I dont know if I’m getting anywhere. I like what you said about making the effort to do the work is self-love, that has long been an elusive idea.
