Jewel, Egg and Stone

Jewel, Egg and Stone

Can’t you see I’m starving?
I need some honest food.
You may think me impolite,
Even think me rude.

But can’t you see I’m weary?
That I fear to lose the race.
That one day I will fade away
While I wait for your embrace?

Can’t you see the darkness?
I am curled up in a ball.
Hoping you will cherish me
As night begins to fall.

Snow and wind and thunder,
Jewel, egg and stone.
Tiny bites of beauty
Outshine the constant groan.

One true word would feed me.
Can you spare a care?
I think you know I’m hiding.
I’m hiding everywhere.
