It was winter in my heart
gone forever spring.
Hope never shook the blossoms
and the bells seemed not to ring.
I fought so hard against the pain
and here in hell it always rained.
I smiled as if I wasn’t blue
and cried until the bill came due.
I opened it and read the words.
“Sing your song just like the birds.”
And so I stood and shared my soul
until the world was not so cold.
Without the words the heart is new
and now the sky is filled with you.
The silent one is now complete
and I will sing until we meet.
